And so the seemingly not so ” FUNKY PEACH Summer Sizzler” was upon us, as 34 brave Swingers descended on Crane Valley with an angry grey sky looming over head, the sound of excitable banter and citterchatter could be heard emanating from the club house meaning only one thing, even the harbingers of doom in the BBC weather department with their reports of biblical rainfall all day couldn’t deter Swingers (well 34 of them) from a great day of golf.

So as the 1st group tee’d off with what can only be described as spits and spots of rain we we’re off, the course bear in mind that had only two weeks prior to this event had it’s annual maintenance carried out was in superb condition, greens deceptively fast, fairways tight and well manicured and if you ventured into it the rough virtually unplayable.
And then as if the day couldn’t get any better the miracle, the grey clouds parted and the sun appeared 🥵. It was going to be a great Swing, well for some anyway.

The nearest the pins and longest drive which where determined by our “picker” teenyweeny Moz gave us all something to attack, on the par 3 6th this was held onto by our Ryder cup bandit Paul Clarke placing to within 6 foot. On the par 3 8th with what must have been a miss hit to get inside my awesome 5 iron was our Presedentay Shane Taylor. Longest drive which was nearly back in Ringwood💪🏼 again taken by Mr Clarke with a mahoosive smash down the 14th. And neatest the pin in two on the 18th after a sweet drive and delicate pitch the Meggaman walked off with the spoils. Then the moment where we find out what misadventures had taken place, course conduct and ungentlemanly conduct as we should all know by now can and will result in our very own law man “The Sheriff” bringing people in line with a rod of iron and so this was the case, with fines for hats, abuse and Crane members getting sneaky rounds in before hand.

With the course playing well it was expected that some good scores where to be expected and so this was the case with 3 Crane members in the top 5 the King of the Swingers today was our very own Pilsbury dough boy BH24’s Pete Joy with an outstanding performance of net 60 well done Pete. And then to the prize that no one wants, even after a previous practice round this couldn’t help him and his doom was sealed after a 15 on the 6th taking home the “all new LED wooden spoon” was Mr Ben Walton.

Our thanks must go to the Crane Valley hospitality guys for looking after us so well again always a delight. And to our sponsor and prize provider FUNKY PEACH represented by Mr Dave Wallace thank you.
