Swinging into 2020
The 2020 season started with a splash at The Dorset Golf and Country Club, with Ryan Ross overcoming the duck friendly conditions to claim his maiden Swingers title.
Ryan managed to stem the tide of challengers, fending off competition from Trev Davies on 39 points and 6 others on 38 points with 3rd place eventually going to little teeny weeny Moz, Dan Morrell.
First prize goes to…
The first Nearest The Pin of the year went to Darren Doe. He may of been sporting some dodgy gators, but it seemed clean trousers led to a clean mind on the 145 yard par 3 7th where he beat the record breaking 51 strong field to add another piece of silverware to his overall 3rd place from last season.

Next up was the longest drive. With the bookies giving odds of 1/49 of resident big hitters Ryan Ross and Trev Davies taking the glory, a surprise was thrown up as new member Steve Caldwell added a new name into the big hitting mix.
The 17th, playing around 135 yards with the pin nastily tucked behind a bunker, was completed by another new 2020 member Jeff Roberts.
And completing the new member hat trick, Ben Hatch ended his swingers debut by putting his second shot on the 18th to around 6 foot and took home the last trophy of the day.
Who shot the sheriff…
The Chief Snitch and his dobbers were, as always, out in full force with many members being caught out for their crimes. However, the biggest debate of the day was when Dan (the self titled Sheriff of the Swingers) and his deputies ‘Tank’ and ‘Doreen’ decided to take on the chief snitch after 12 members played their winter pairs matches at the same venue 2 weeks prior to the event. After both parties stated their cases, the jury decided that fines were to be distributed to all involved!
Veganism has it’s flaws…
Finally, the last, and most coveted award of the day was awarded to our first self confessed Vegan Chris Fower. Clearly missing his protein fixes taking part in Veganuary, Chris came in with 21 points meaning the wooden spoon had a new home for the start of 2020.
And finally…
The new swingers season was started with a record breaking turn out of 51 players, all but one of whom were members and looking hugely stylish in their new Mashie polo shirts.
