Adrian ‘The incredible Faulk’ Faulkner showed that consistency is key to success, as he became the first player to become King of the Swingers without recording a tour victory during the course of the season. Finishing 13 points clear of second place Luke Tiani and 14 clear of third placed Darren Doe, Adrian rightfully took home the coveted season winners shield and a lot of plaudits from his fellow members and beyond.
Amazingly, not a single victory was recorded between the top 3 in 2019, which goes to show in golf steady scoring over a long season, can reap its rewards.
Adrian started the season on a handicap of 10.9 and was in and amongst the points for the first couple of events, before having a little wobble part way through the season leaving him languishing in mid table. However, a good performance in the Swingers open at South Winchester saw him climb back up the table. At the next event, his home course of Crane Valley, Adrian again scored well and nabbed some bonus points for a nearest the pin in two on the 18th. A scoring feat made more impressive by the fact he had to take a shot cut as it was his home course. His unfaltering swing saw him rack up more points in the next few events, leaving him top spot going into a Queens knowing a top 10 finish would guarantee him top spot for the season. He duly delivered and was greeted by the loudest cheer of the season when coming up to collect the shield that so many swingers yearn to see their name on. Ending the season in single figures of 9.8 it really was a year to remember for The incredible Faulk…

A late charge…

Starting the final event of the season in 12th place, Luke ‘The Voice’ Tiani claimed second place for the season courtesy of a great final round, and some all important bonus points with a nearest the pin on the second at Queens. That was his second lot of bonus points from the season, after nabbing another nearest the pin at South Winchester, and they proved decisive in the end of season standings as he pipped Darren Doe in Third by countback. After starting the season poorly, Tiani managed to cling onto some valuable points in the first part of the season before scoring well at the three majors propelled him up the leaderboard. With 58 of his 71 points coming from majors, including bonus points, Tiani certainly chose the right events to turn up at, and add a seasons silver medal to his bronze from the first season. Next stop in to reach for that gold…

Completing the podium…Darren Doe, somewhat unluckily, had to settle for third and reflect on a season of near misses after missing out on two victories throughout the season by the odd shot. Nevertheless, it has to go down as a great season for Darren was the only swinger to score in every event over the duration of the year which is a momentous achievement in itself. Scoring highly in both majors and picking up points throughout the year, Darren’s golf throughout 2019 was to be admired as he constantly played well and even showed off how he’d improved his aim by managing to leave his ball balanced on the branch of a tree at West Wellow. Third place is still a great feat over a long season and the gauntlet has been laid down for Darren’s maiden victory 2020…

And finally…2019 was another fantastic season, the 4th full swingers season, with so many memorable moments to mention we cannot wait to start again in 2020. With new courses on the schedule and the swingers first ever 2 day club championships in the pipeline, 2020 is set to be the best year yet for the greatest society on the planet. We wish you all a very merry Christmas and Happy new year… But for now, the final word goes to our King of the Swingers 2019…
Congratulations Adrian ‘The incredible Faulk’ Faulkner
